How to collect audiences for Smart Retargeting
When you enable retargeting on ClickAdilla, you can either exclude users who have already converted or create a new campaign to show ads specifically to them. Conversions can include registrations, add-to-cart actions, purchases, or other meaningful interactions.
How it works
Retargeting relies on conversions tracked through postbacks.
· Blacklist: Same campaign — excludes converters.
· Whitelist: Separate campaign — targets only converters.
Configuring postbacks on In-Page Campaigns
Before you can collect an audience, it’s essential to configure postbacks on your In-Page campaign. Retargeting currently works only with In-Page campaigns.
Collecting your audience
Go to your ClickAdilla’s dashboard → Click Create campaign:
Scroll down to the Audience for retargeting section of the General step:
Enable Collect a retargeting audience based on this campaign:
Your audience will now be collected automatically as users complete conversions. Let’s continue:
Blacklist — Exclude past converters
Blacklisting allows you to exclude users who have already converted within the same campaign. This ensures your ads are shown to users who have not completed the conversion yet.
On the Targeting step, look at Main parameters → Retarget audiences.
Select Blacklist:
Blacklist retargeting can be combined with other targeting parameters for more precise reach.
Whitelist — Target past converters
Whitelisting is used when you want to show ads to users who have already converted. For example, you may want to show a purchase ad to users who previously registered.
Whitelisting requires two campaigns:
· A campaign with Audience for retargeting enabled collects the audience.
· A separate campaign targets the collected audience.
To set up the second, separate campaign, go to your ClickAdilla dashboard → Click Create campaign:

Go to the Targeting step → Main parameters → Retarget audiences → Choose an audience → Ensure Whitelist selected:

Please note
Whitelist campaigns target only the collected audience. Since this is already a highly precise audience, there’s no need to combine with other narrow targeting.
Why blacklist or whitelist converting users
With postbacks, you define what counts as a conversion: registrations, purchases, add-to-cart actions, and more.
· If a user has registered, you may want to show a follow-up ad to encourage a purchase.
· If a user has already purchased, you may prefer to exclude them from seeing the same ad again.
This is just one example of how Smart Retargeting can help you make campaigns more efficient. You can explore additional use cases on your own or with the help of your account manager.
